Slovakia's Constitution changes
Slovakia’s parliament amended its constitution Friday to state that all citizens are either male or female, limit adoption to married heterosexual couples and ban surrogacy.
This is crazy and a result of leaving a despicable human being and traitor with extra huge hard on for Putin and other authoritarians running your country.
Robert Fico is riding the wave of populistic right wing ideology that has taken over Europe and other countries. He was always an asshole, but after the attempted assassination a new kind of shitty person was born. He has shown his alignment towards Russia and the idiotic, human rights suppressing ideology in the past, but now has shown his true face. The issue lies deeper though, as this change was not one man's job, it was voted for by the majority in the parliament. Slovak politics are more corrupt than ever. You cannot have majority of ruling politicians vote for something that is against the basic human rights and basic idea of existence and being your true self. Either the whole government is on Fico's payroll or only people that support these ideologies are mobilised to vote and the rest of registered voters simply gave up already and do not participate in the elections. Not sure what is more sad.
Robert Fico is weak human being, and that is why he is pushing for these ideas. He wants to feel in power, power over his life, lives of others and be remembered as other dictators. It is clear that he realised he is not the one in control of his own destiny after the assassination attempt. Unfortunately, for all people living in Slovakia, he has not dealt with his trauma in sessions with professional, rather decided to feed his evil side - spite & malice - and take the whole country down with him. He is your typical school yard bully. If you do not stand up to him, he will take your money, lunch, dignity...
So, as a parent in Slovakia, you can no longer say to your children that they can be whatever they want, that they can be their true selves, that they can love whoever they want and that they can have a family if they decide to do so.
Fortunately for me, I am no longer living in Slovakia, but I am afraid if we do not learn from cases like Slovakia, Hungary, US,... we will see bad people win and strip us of our basic rights only to gain the feeling of power.
To those who do not care about the future of their grandchildren and vote for these wannabe dictators - How can you live with yourself? How can you look into the mirror and go about your day?
