This specific part of lyrics from Zabiť Františka's song "Ostrov"1 are stuck in my head ever since I've heard them for the very first time.
Hrdinovia nevyhrajú skrz to, že im tlieskaš
Which roughly translates to:
Heroes will not win just because you are rooting for them2
There is nothing better describing the situation we are living in. Perhaps due to the social media, everyone is just cheering for the good things, but nobody really takes an action. We have become so nihilistic towards what is happening around us, too anaesthetised to be empathetic towards fellow human being.
Unfortunately, people who are taking the action are the misled ones, influenced by the extremism propaganda and populism feeding them with lies and twisted narratives. We need to be more present, stop giving "likes" and "thumbs up" to a cause, JOIN THE CAUSE. Do not let the bad guys win!
