F*ck Omarchy and right wing populism
In the past few weeks, one specific Linux distro has come into the lime light - Omarchy - the vibecoded dotfile running on top of Arch, created by bigoted fascist and getting ridiculous backing.
The distro itself is flawed even without looking at the ideology of its creator (Omarchy has had its default user added into Docker group allowing to run commands without the need of ‘sudo’.
Then comes the ideology behind it, the ideology that is in direct opposition to the Free & Open Source Software (FOSS) - the freedom. DHH, the creator of ‘Ruby on Rails’, who is behind Omarchy, would very much like to see some basic freedoms removed from certain groups of society. I bet, all in the name of “protecting the Western culture and the way of life” - whatever that might be. When looking closer, it is not an accident that Omarchy is getting traction. We are living in the world where the right wing populism is on the rise, basic human rights are here only for those unwilling to think, we have a man literally shitting himself swaying world economy as he pleases, we have Germany (out of all places) having true Nazis, supported by idiotic Russian regime, winning elections. We have guys like Robert Fico, spewing nonsense about NATO, claiming that Slovakia will not respond to Article 5, in case it would be invoked, as there is nobody to fight - he has never ever said that Russia is an aggressor and a threat to the Europe and world order as such. He is a traitor and, unfortunately, there are still many like him running around.
Do not be a dick, do not think that right wing populism is somehow reasonable, because it is not and it does make you complicit. Do not use fucking Omarchy and projects run by idiots with an agenda contradicting humanity and FOSS principles. Be a good human being, it is not too late. Treat others with dignity and fucking fight fascism!
