Boomers and disinformation
Why are boomers so susceptible to disinformation? I have multiple people in my life that are above age of 60 and all of them are very easily influenced by algorithmic feeds mostly over at Meta platforms. I am trying to understand what is behind and how come that people that I thought very high of throughout my life are falling for the basic propaganda.
Could it be the way they have been growing up - without the internet, when all the information were coming either via newspapers or TV?
It could also be the fact that the generations coming after them are either actively contributing to the disinformation sphere, used to the fact that trolling is a thing or simply grew up with the (correct) notion that not everything that is out there is true and you should always verify the information.
For now, the only thing that we can do is to be helpful and explain to those who are willing to listen how the information should be approached and that internet can be both fascinating and scary place.
